Editing a crypto press release starts with checking what happened and what evidence supports it. Improve the headline and sentence structure after the names, dates, numbers and product claims are consistent.
This checklist is for reviewing a completed draft. It is not a promise of media coverage, rankings, investor interest or token-price movement.
Make a claim log before polishing the copy
Read each factual sentence and record the underlying claim. Keep the source beside it. If a sentence combines several claims, separate them so that each can be checked.
| Draft item | Evidence to collect | Editing decision |
|---|---|---|
| Product is available | Official product page and actual access conditions | State where and for whom |
| Exchange listing | Exchange's announcement and exact pair | Distinguish trading from deposits |
| Usage number | Measurement period and counting method | Explain what was counted |
| Partnership | Approved wording from the named parties | Avoid implying an unconfirmed relationship |
| Market forecast | Named source, horizon and assumptions | Label it as a projection |
This is a practical editorial workflow. It does not replace a product review or jurisdiction-specific legal review.
Replace a vague headline with an observable event
Fictional draft: “Revolutionary platform transforms the future of crypto.”
Edited: “Example Project Opens a Public Test Environment for Its Wallet API.”
The second headline describes an event that can be checked. It avoids claiming that a launch has already changed an industry. Use the actual project's name and status only when verified; the example is invented.
Separate access, activity and availability
“Deposits open,” “trading opens” and “withdrawals supported” are different statements. Check the asset, network, trading pair, time zone and country restrictions where relevant. A planned start time should not be rewritten as a completed launch.
For listing announcements, use the existing exchange listing checklist. This editing guide covers broader copy review rather than duplicating that launch-specific checklist.
Give each number a definition
Fictional draft: “The project reached 10,000 users.”
Edited, only if the data supports it: “The public test environment recorded 10,000 registered accounts during September; this count is not a measure of active users.”
An account count, wallet count and person count are not interchangeable. State the observation period, exclusions and collection method that actually apply. Do not invent an impressive metric to make a weak announcement sound stronger.
Check quotes and future claims separately
A quote should add explanation rather than repeat the headline in promotional language. Confirm the speaker, title and approved wording. Distinguish their view from a measured result.
If a draft contains a forecast, keep its source and time horizon visible. Our guide to market forecasts in press releases covers those claims. Removing the word “guaranteed” is not enough if the remaining sentence still implies certainty.
Finish with a second-reader check
- Read the headline and lead together: do they describe the same event?
- Open every supporting link and verify the exact claim it supports.
- Check names, dates, units, tickers and time zones against the claim log.
- Remove repeated paragraphs and unrelated market commentary.
- Confirm the contact route works and the person responsible for corrections is identified.
Record the version reviewed and the publication time. A later change to a material fact needs a visible correction rather than an unexplained rewrite of the history.
Reading the announcement as a trader
A factual announcement can help you understand a product event. It does not demonstrate that an asset is a suitable trade or that a token will appreciate. Check what the announcement actually establishes before attaching a market narrative to it.
